We highly recommend Phonics for kids 2 to 6 years of age, as Phonics truly is the foundation for younger learners to start learning English.

We have chosen Letterland as our preferred Phonics course as it is highly recognized worldwide, and it is a fantastic course for younger learners (YLE). This course has won many awards!

Letterland teaches Phonics by using a story-based approach. The story engages the students leading to learning retention of concepts. Letterland is wonderfully and multi-sensory. It activates every learning channel through music, actions, alliteration, movement, songs, art, games, and role-play.

Worldwide, students have endorsed and achieved above 81% National Phonics screening results. Letterland is a proven system established for more than 45 years and currently operating in 101 schools around the world.

The course teaches students techniques for blending letters, with fun characters in an interactive, activity-based, engaging way, with a correspondence between sounds, pronunciation, and spelling.

The main principle of Phonics is to teach students the most common sounds, spelling relationships so that they can decode, or sound out the words. Decoding is often referred to when it comes to Phonics.

Decoding is a critical, essential component, in pronunciation, spelling, and reading success as it truly builds strong foundations for young learners.

The phonics course can teach students of all ages, and not just younger learners even though it generally targets this age group.

This course contains fun activities that are interactive, engaging, such as drawing, tracing letters, games, stickers, and more.

These stimulate the students, which is in their best interest as they stay interested in a fun and pleasant learning environment.

The phonics course is all taught by Native English Teachers as this rapidly increases the student’s chances of learning it quicker in its natural raw form.

Targets students 2 to 6 years of age.

• Teaching in an activity-based manner, so the children thoroughly enjoy learning more words and blending.
• Phonics covers spelling to mixed syllables.
• The course can last from 6 to 12 months, depending on the progress of the student.

Pre-starters Phonics:

It is a basic entry-level and just a warm-up of learning Phonics.

Intermediate Phonics:

The students will learn the blending of letters and sounds. Understand short and simple blends, like short vowels, reading, and spelling three to four-letter words.

Advanced Phonics:

The students learn more advanced blending and taught complex word-groups digraphs trigraphs, and long vowel sounds, this helps them to pronounce, spell up to six-letter words reading stories fluently.

Completion of the English Phonics course.

After the students have completed their phonic course, they have now built strong foundations to further their English skills.

Thus, building on these foundations by taking other English courses to develop their reading, writing, speaking, comprehension, and grammar skills.

Please note some of the English courses can be taken alongside the phonics course at the same time if the student’s progress allows them.

The progress book is a little book that we write the student’s progress and development in every lesson they attend, which keeps the parents up to date at all times.
